Research of the attitude to education in the context of the phenomenon of fatherhood: age aspect

Abstract

This scientific article is devoted to the study of the relationship of the fathers to their children in the process of education, child­rearing strategies chosen by them and characteristics of parenting styles. The aim of the study is to examine these issues through the use of such methods of Psychodiag­ nostics as a test­questionnaire “Analysis of the conditions of family educa­ tion” by E.G. Eidemiller (modification of R.V. Ovcharova) test­questionnaire of the parental relationship, the authors of which are A.J. Varga and V.V. Stolin; questionnaire “The perfect parent” by M. Ovcharova. The study is based on an understanding of the parental relationship as a variety of feel­ings towards the child, behavioral patterns practiced in communion with him, the characteristics of perception and understanding of the nature of the child’s personality, of his actions. The relevance of the topic is determined by the current trend of transformation of traditional family values, in particu­lar, the widespread phenomena such as the disintegration of families, denial of paternity by men. This situation is connected with the lack of attention to the issue of paternity, the unresolved internal conflicts men of a certain age. Age paradigm of research involves the study of categories related to father’s attitude toward the child in men over time and when they reach a certain age, in connection with which there are changes in the perception of their role as a father, and as a consequence, in relation to the child in the process of education. The findings suggest that there are some differences between the treatment of the child and the peculiarities of paternity in men of all ages. The data allowed to draw certain conclusions. Thus, transformation with respect to the child occur in men over time, during which the ac­ quired experience and maturing males occurs as a father. We found that over time, the emotional aspect of fatherhood is reduced. Especially it emerges with the transition from young age to mature. Hereinafter, this shift is negligible. Also, there is a decrease in cognitive aspect, in view of the high level of ideal representations of fatherhood at a young age that subsequently does not play such a significant role.
