Abstract

The article raises an important medical and psychological problem such as attitude towards the disease and life satisfaction in insulin-dependent people. In the 20th century, satisfaction with life was an object of study in the socio-psychological sciences, and diabetes mellitus was the subject of medical research. In this regard, studies of particular interest are those that examine the relationship between life satisfaction, attitude to the disease, and improving the quality of life in people with diabetes. It should be noted that the methodology of our study was the work of such authors as M. Aizenk and G. Aizenk, L.V. Kulikov., R.M. Shamionov who studied life satisfaction in terms of health, age, material well-being. But the aspects examined indicate that there is a gap in Kazakhstan’s psychology in the study of life satisfac-tion of insulin-dependent people.

The results of the study showed that the attitude towards the disease in insulin-dependent people is negatively emotional, if life satisfaction is low. Acceptance of the disease occurs when the subjects treat the disease as a way of life, respectively, self-control as a way to control the disease, which increases the quality and satisfaction with life. The results obtained may be useful to specialists in the field of medicine and psychology involved in the development of methods for treating patients with diabetes mellitus. Knowledge of patients’ views on life can become a reliable basis in constructing patterns of interaction with them. The practical significance lies in the possibility of using the results of the study in the psycho-logical support of insulin-dependent people.

Key words: attitude towards the disease, life satisfaction, insulin dependence, diabetes, emotions, illness.
