Abstract

At present, the worldview of the modern generation of young people is largely shaped by the influence of the mass media, the materials of which carry a stream of various information. The study of sources and attitudes towards the content of the information transmitted by them seems insufficiently explored in the context of knowledge about the world of youth. This article provides a comparative analysis of the views of Kazakhstan and Russian youth on the sources of information they use, and attitudes towards certain types of behavior that are broadcast through the mass media, including social networks. It also considers the assessment of the information field, as part of a common spiritual and value space in which young people interact. Research Methodology. This article is based on the results of a sociological research “Value Orientations of the Youth of Russia and Kazakhstan”, conducted by the survey method. The target group of the research was young people aged 14 to 29 years. In total, the survey was polled: in Russia – 1240 respondents, in Kazakhstan – 903. Results of the research: the youth of both countries are similar in their preferences and worldview. However, a comparison of data in the same positions indicates that there are significant differences in the data and differences of opinion.

Key words: youth, information sources, Kazakhstan, Russia, attitude.
