Abstract

Abstract. This article discusses the issues that allow us to say that the psychological consequences after nuclear weapons tests form a typical model of personality. It was characterized by long-term distress, which is manifested mainly by somatic complaints. This model takes on a chronic form. In individuals under conditions of radio-ecological stress, psychological protective mechanisms were violated and states of despair, depression, and confusion arose. Their systems of interpersonal relationships were violated, there was a narrowing of the sphere of vital interests and reduction of adaptive capacity. An analysis of the literature data devoted to the study of the effect of ionizing radiation on the psychological characteristics of the personality as a whole showed that under the influence of adverse environmental factors changes in the personality structure occur and the following personality characteristics appear, such as anxiety, aggression, rigidity, which in turn violate adaptation human life. Damaging factors affect people not so much at once, but for a long time. Some authors believe that mental disorders that occur after an environmental radiation disaster are formed not only due to the direct or indirect action of physical factors, but also as a result of the inclusion of somatopsychic or psychosomatic mechanisms directly related to the impact of the disaster. Key words: adverse environmental factors, anxiety, psycho-emotional stress, socio-psychological tension, depression, environmental consciousness.
