Social exclusion of the elderly: literature review

Abstract

This article is aimed at a literary review of the social exclusion of the elderly. The article considers the concept of «social exclusion» in different contexts and characterizes the social exclusion of the elderly. The article considers social exclusion as a complex process that still requires empirical research. It analyzes the factors affecting the social exclusion of older people, and identifies risk factors for this process. Studying the social exclusion of older people scientists to give an accurate definition of social exclusion, proposed methods for its measurement. One of them is the Bristol Matrix of social exclusion. The article is based on the Bristol Matrix and defines the elements of social exclusion. Based on the literature review of social exclusion, it can be seen that the concept of social exclusion includes the measuring jackals of this exclusion. Then, the article analyzes the measuring jackals of social exclusion and makes a conceptual model. This conceptual model is in our opinion may help in the development of empirical research on the topic of «Overcoming social exclusion of older age.» But, since the conceptual model is subjective, it is necessary to define social exclusion even deeper and create a Kazakh model of social exclusion. This will give us ways to solve the problems of overcoming this complex process.
