Abstract

Today we can observe a trend of rapid institutional renaissance of religion in the public space. Tra-ditional religious values and institutions that have historically existed throughout society are undergoing significant changes, primarily affecting perceptions of the importance of faith and belief. With the emer-gence of civil society, religion is recognized as one of the basic values and acquires a fundamentally new meaning. Therefore, it can be stated that the religious factor plays a significant role in the development of Kazakhstani society. Additionally, the article analyses socio-cultural factors influencing the wearing of the hijab, such as religious beliefs, cultural traditions and social norms.

The purpose of this article is to provide sociological insights into the wearing of the hijab in mod-ern society, as questions regarding the perception of religious symbols and the impact they have on urban culture continue unanswered. The hijab is analysed in the sociological context as an element of religiosity, confessional identity, a component of fashion communication and a structural element of public opinion. To comprehensively understand the topic of study and to achieve the stated purpose, the author conducted qualitative research. The article shows on the basis of narrative interviewing that constructing a positive relationship between religion and society at large supports the sustainability of society.
