Abstract

Formation of the young schoolchildren’s adequate positive self­assessment af­ fects not only the attitude toward school and learning process as a whole, but also contributes to the formation of interests, attitude, acts as an important stage in the development  of  students’ personality.

The article analyzes the main  ways  of  creating  the  self­assessment,  peculiari­ ties of its manifestation in primary school children. The main key terms are defined from the perspective of different authors  and  the  early  school  age  is  described.  The research is of importance in both the theoretical  and  practical  field  of  “self” study and the factors relating to the development of an individual. The types of self­assessment included; the most favorable conditions for the development of positive  self­assessment  and  types  of  anxiety  indicated. The  research  provides that there is great educational influence from the teacher and the parents on the development of self­assessment of school children such as the advice on teaching, nurturing and in particular, advice on how to improve the child’s self­assessment.      The  idea  of  teaching  without  giving  marks  is  proposed.  Also,  attention  is  given   to the influence of the situational anxiety  on  school  children’s  self­assessment.  A child is not born with a definite attitude  to  himself.  His  self­assessment  is  devel­ oped and formed in the process of nurturing, where the main role belongs to the  family  and  then school.
