The problems of Kazakhstani Higher Education in the innovation economy.

Abstract

An urgent task for modern Kazakhstan, which its government frequent­ ly mentions, is the development of an innovative economy. Lack of an effective system of education, particularly in the sciences, is one of the primary issues preventing full scale development of innovation processes and mechanisms. In this article the authors analyse issues related to the current system of education in modern Kazakhstan. They also describe potential opportuni­ ties for the country’s Higher Education sector to be a catalyst for change by developing innovative training for economic specialists.
