In modern science, the paradigm of self-organization of the city is growing in areas such as sociol- ogy, geography, architecture, logistics, etc. In sociology, an entire industry has been created to study urbanization and self-organization of the city, which are studied on the basis of sociocultural aspects. The purpose of the study is a review of the theory of spatial self-organization of the urban population, from the point of sociocultural aspect. Actual studies of the socio-cultural space of the city, its structure, as well as the specifics and development prospects, determination of both fundamental and theoreti- cal problems of academic science, as well as the tasks posed by a specific scientific analysis of modern socio-cultural processes. A sociological approach to the category of space was developed in the works of Western researchers M. Weber, G. Simmel, O. Spengler. They reinterpreted and presented the history of modern civilization as the history of the urban lifestyle. The city in the framework of this approach is considered as a qualitatively new form of bringing people together on the basis of public relations. The theoretical and practical significance of the study is of scientific interest to specialists in the field of so- ciology, anthropology, cultural studies and other sciences. The experience of studying the sociocultural processes taking place in urban space can be useful in analyzing the development trends of a modern city. The practical significance of the study lies in the fact that the data can be used in further research and teaching activities, especially when developing curricula in theoretical and applied disciplines that affect sociology, various aspects of modern urban culture, and globalization. As a research method, a review analysis of scientific articles on the research topic was carried out. The study is descriptive and based on some indicators of global economic development. The study mainly focuses on the context of urban development, urbanization, self-organization of the population.
