The problems of job search and career development by recent graduates of universities

Abstract

Relevance of a research it is connected with the aggravation of a problem of search and selection of the first workplace and employment for university graduates in a modern social and economic situation of Kazakhstan caused by change of structure of employment and limitation of interaction between employers and higher education institution. Though in the country various state and regional programs on employment of youth are implemented, but this problem doesn’t find the relevant decision. Studying of difficulties which are faced by almost every recently graduates from higher education institution and their early, correct creation of career, duration of job search is one of the most urgent problems for today among economists, sociologists, etc. Methods: The basis of this article was formed by the empirical research conducted by the author in 2016. As a method of a research has been chosen a qualitative interview. Graduates who have graduated from the higher education institutions of Almaty and Almaty region within the last three years from the moment of the beginning of interviewing which are selected by method of «Snowball» have acted as respondents (N =30, on 15 from each area respectively). Results: On the basis of empirical data difficulties which even more often graduates meet have been revealed entering the labor market is the lack of work experience. During the research it was also revealed that duration of positive job search is influenced by social communications, i.e. graduates who used informal methods of search much well makes job search duration, than those who use formal methods of job search. Also, results of a research have shown the reasons of student’s employment such as, material and substantial characteristics for providing in the future stable employment.
